Corn Season

Sept 27th, the first day of corn chopping!

They chop 1,000 acres of corn... 750 is put in the corn pit at the dairy, then 250 acres is custom that they chop for other people.

Our son, William, admires the 8 row corn chopper that was rented for this season.

Bailing Hay

The boys are ready to get started.

The dairy grows about 500 acres of hay for their cows each year, and they're always buying hay from others too.

The hay has to be bailed at dusk when there's dew on it. They can usually get 5 crops of hay where we live. The 1st and 5th crop is chopped, 2nd-4th crop is bailed.

The first crop is cut around the 1st of June, and the last crop is chopped in October.

Brandon smiling big... he loves his job.
